The Pitcher

Today, I kissed Buttercup. I've caught her staring at me over the past few days while I was working around the farm, but I've always been so uncertain of her feelings for me. We've never been as verbally expressive to one another - I don't talk much - but I could see it in her eyes today as I removed a pitcher hanging above her head. She never took her eyes off of mine. Tonight, we kissed passionately under the setting sun. Now I can rest easy, reassured that she loves me too.

The Search Begins

It has been months since the last time I saw Buttercup. I can only hope she still longs for me as I do her. After all, I am dead. Well, as far as anyone knows. It's a shame. Her and I climbed so many stairs to be together, only for me to tumble away. And now I've learned that she is to marry none other than the wretched Prince Humperdinck. What a world we live in where power can command marriage.

How did this all happen, you ask? Well, just after leaving the farm, my ship was attacked by the Dread Pirate Roberts. I was then forced to work aboard the ship, but was able to convince Robert that if I defeated him in a fencing duel every day for three years, I could win my freedom. It wasn't easy, but I lived.

After I won my freedom I became the new Dread Pirate Roberts. Turns out the old Roberts wasn't a Roberts after all, but a rather gentle fellow named Ryan. This mask feels a bit strange - I don't recognize myself in the mirror. But it will help me to save my Buttercup. I must find and rescue her at once. I have heard that she is being transported as I write. My crew and I sail tomorrow.

The Reunion

After countless searching, I finally discovered the whereabouts of Buttercup and her captors. They were easy to fool with new found skills gained throughout my long journey as a sea captain. After rescuing Buttercup from the strange men, I concealed my true identity from Buttercup. I used the deception of this disguise to find out if Buttercup was truly in love with her fiance the Prince. I was relieved to find out that she was in fact forced into the engagement and had no emotional ties to the Prince.

Just as I was about to reveal my identity she pushed me down the hill with the hurtful message that I could "Die for all she cared". As I was falling down the hill, all I could think to say was, "As you wish!" Buttercup threw herself down the hill once she discovered who I really was. When we met at the bottom of the hill, I wrapped my arms around her so tightly that I forgot about the pain from the fall.

I'm rather relieved. I half-expected her to gunnysack me (Stewart, pg.344-355). Honestly, I didn't quite know what to expect since I'd been gone all those long lonely months.

The Fire Swamp

Buttercup and I had some wonderful bonding time after rolling down that hill in the Fire Swamp. After I pulled us out of quicksand and slayed a rodent of unusual size, I'd say today was a pretty successful day (minus the chunk it bit out of my shoulder). Buttercup surprised me when she poked at the rat with a stick. Yet, I'm glad that she majorly stuck to her boundaries and let me be the hero. But she truly stepped up when we were both captured by Humperdinck's men.

In all seriousness, she saved my life as well. I was ready to let us die before being captured alive. But Buttercup stood forward, pleading Humperdinck to let me live if she went with him. She disclosed to me that she was almost destroyed by believing that I was once dead, and could not do it again. She must have gone through quite the cycle of grief after hearing such news - I do not blame her. But she could not see through the Prince's lies.

Buttercup should never have trusted this Prince. His six-fingered henchman knocked me upside the head after I called out his lies about returning me to my ship. I have just awoken in what I believe to be a torture room. There is a big machine here that I can't help but think is intended for me. Whatever happens to me, I can only hope that I still have the life left in me afterwards to rescue my true love.

Dead Pirate Roberts

Apparently I died again. But quite literally this time. I guess it happened while I was being tortured. I remember an angry Humperdinck storming in, and then searing blackness. My associates Inigo and Fezzik, two of the Prince's ex-henchmen, informed me that they had to revive me with a magic pill. Interesting.

I can't type because only my head moves, so Inigo is recording this for me. We're now about to go save Buttercup from the castle. Onward!

A Good Bluff

Our plan was executed to perfection. Humperdinck fell for my bluff, and now sits bound to a chair. The only thing left to do is find Fezzik and leave this castle once and for all.

I am thankful for my timing. Buttercup would have committed suicide had I not been lying on her bed, waiting for her return. To see her such stages of depression and acceptance towards me abandoning her was heartbreaking, but I know I will never see her so sad again as long as she lives. I know she denied my absence all the way until "Man and wife" was spoken. And this is why I truly love that woman, for I would have done the same.

I cannot wait until this day ends, and we can be safe once more. I have to say, all this excitement has worn me out and I became quite fond of the bed I was resting on while I waited for Buttercup.

The Kiss

Our journey has finally come to an end. We jumped out of the window and rode four white horses into the sunset. We then kissed each other like nothing else mattered in the world.

"Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind."
